Have talent and time to spare? We're looking for volunteer board members

Every fall, the Whistler Writing Society hosts hundreds of guests and dozens of authors over a four day event celebrating the literary arts via the Whistler Writers Festival.

This doesn’t happen without our board of directors. Our board supports our mission to connect readers to Canadian authors through access to the literary and storytelling arts, and to offer craft development opportunities to writers within the Sea to Sky Corridor. We do this through year-long programming, including the annual festival, the Authors in the Schools program, the Whistler Writer in Residence session, our Spring Reading series, One Day Writing Retreats, and more.

Now, we’re seeking candidates to join our talented volunteer board of directors. We’re looking for people who are in alignment with our values of creativity, inclusivity, diversity, equity, accessibility and sustainability.

Loving books, ideas, and discussion helps too.

In particular, we are looking for candidates with fundraising skills, legal expertise, and who are strong community connectors. Our board members contribute 100 per cent of what they can — from professional services to community networks, from lived experience to financial support.

The governance board of directors works with our contract staff to engage readers, bring sustainable literary arts programming to our community, and to support writers in the corridor. We value all forms of meaningful contribution that help us thrive and believe this approach fosters a more inclusive, effective board. If you are interested in joining our volunteer board, we’d love to hear from you.
