bronwyn preece, dubbed the ‘backcountry poet,’ holds a PhD in performance and is a community-engaged arts practitioner. She is the author of hiking beyond : poems from the trail (2026) and knee deep in high water : riding the Muskwa-Kechika, expedition poems (2023), both with Caitlin Press. With Simply Read Books she has six books published or forthcoming including: Sea to Sky Alphabet (2023), on which she worked with both the local Lil’wat and Squamish Nations; Gulf Islands Alphabet (2012); this summer’s Canadian Rockies Alphabet (2026); plus Olive and Jasper, My Happy Hiking Trails and Waiting on Winter.
