Our Amplifying Voices Scholarship helps local writers reach for their writing dreams by providing one participant a free spot in our Whistler Writer in Residence program. This scholarship supports underrepresented voices in Canadian publishing, particularly those who are Indigenous, racialized, Deaf or hard of hearing, living with a disability, and/or LGBTQ2S+. A scholarship is awarded to one student per year. Our Amplifying Voices Scholarship is open for applications until August 1st every year.
Application Criteria:
– Applicants must be Indigenous, racialized, Deaf or hard of hearing, disabled, and/or people who identify as being on the LGBTQ2S+ spectrum
– Our priority is to support applicants who are living in the Sea to Sky Corridor, from Lions Bay to Lillooet at the time of their application
– Applicants do not need to be published authors. Emerging and established writers and storytellers are welcome to apply.
– Submit a short bio, one paragraph outlining why you want to participate in the program including how it will further your writing goals, and a short description of the writing project you will work on while in the program (maximum 300 words)
– Deadline to apply is August 1st, 11:59pm.
